Monterey Bay Whale Watch Map of Marine Mammal
Sightings in the Monterey Bay Region
October 26 - November 30, 1998
compiled by Richard Ternullo
Note: Numerous California Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, and Southern Sea Otters are seen on all trips, and are not plotted on the chart.
Late season abundance of krill has led to numerous observations of Blue, Humpback, and Fin Whales for this time of year. Gray Whales will become the most numerous large cetacean by mid-December. They may be best seen from whalewatching boats or from points along the coast from Pt. Lobos to Hurricane Pt.
Dolphin sightings should remain common as we enter winter with Long-beaked Common Dolphin probably the most frequently seen.
The sightings plotted above were compiled by Richard Ternullo for the period 10/26/98 to 11/30/98.
